We were very happy to welcome the novices from the Benedictine archabbey of St. Meinrad's in Indiana for a short visit this week.

Fr. Guerric DeBona, the novice master of St. Meinrad's, pictured above, second from the right, is carrying on a long tradition.

Usually once a year, the novices from St. Meinrad's visit Gethsemani and every few years, the novices from Gethsemani visit St. Meinrad's. Our abbeys are quite close, only a few hours drive apart, so it is very easy to make the trip.

This year, we gave the Benedictine novices a tour of Gethsemani in the morning, and then in the afternoon, novices from both houses got together at Thomas Merton's hermitage for snacks and sharing.

It was a lovely day and a lovely time.
