Dr. Wesley Roberts, professor of music at Campbellsville University, played a four-piece recital in the abbey church on April 12. The performance included compositions by Bach, Nicolas de Grigny, Kees Weggelaar and Denis Bédard.

According to Roberts, the pieces were primarily sacred music in a concert setting - suitable for the monastic venue. Indeed, many monks - as well as retreatants and visitors - came to enjoy the lively and entertaining performance.

Roberts has presented concerts as pianist and organist throughout the United States, Europe and China. He has been a faculty member of Campbelsville since 1982 and has a long relationship with Gethsemani.

This is his third performance on the abbey's Létourneau Organ, Opus 93.
