Each year, the monks in the novitiate take a day or two for an outing. This is a chance to explore something in our neighbourhood or to visit nearby religious houses.

This year, they visited Bernheim Forest, just north of Bardstown.

Br. Matthias, left, and Br. Matthew, right, are pictured above with Br. Conrad at a lookout high above the forest floor.

Below, the novices enjoy a nice picnic with Br. Conrad and Br. Thomas who also joined them for the day.

Bernheim Forest is a natural area open to the public. They have a large Welcome Centre with a café serving fare from local producers. They are particularly concerned for conservation and the preservation of plants native to Kentucky.
