25 October, 2019 - In pictures: Visit to Santa Rita Abbey
Dom Elias recently presented a weeklong course on Isaac of Stella to the Trappistines of Santa Rita Abbey in Arizona. Their community is located about an hour south of Tucson, where they pray and live by the work of their hands through the production of altar breads. They also have a lovely retreat house.
Isaac of Stella was a 12th century Cistercian monk, theologian and philosopher. Dom Elias has presented similar courses on Isaac of Stella at Vitorchiano in Italy and at Our Lady of Mt. Matútum in the Philippines.
The classes began on Sept. 30 and lasted through Oct. 4. After returning home, the abbot shared some images of the sisters' remote and picturesque community. Below is a selection of images from the presentation. Thank you to the sisters of Santa Rita for the photos.
