Gethsemani regularly hosts "Come and See" weekends during which men who are interested in learning more about the monastic life have the opportunity to spend a few days with our community.

They participate in choir, come to the Chapter on Sunday, and are given tours and talks by Br. Aaron, the vocations director.

The most recent weekend took place over Labour Day, the 4th through the 6th of September.

An important part of the weekend experience is a Saturday afternoon meeting with the novices at Thomas Merton's hermitage, as these photographs show. There, fortified by some snacks, the visitors asked the novices questions about the life, learning about it from the inside.

They all shared something of their own stories and some of their hopes and their fears as they work to discern God's call for them.
