Like many communities across the nation, Gethsemani experienced some rather unusual winter weather last week. While the monastery usually gets some snow each year, it usually only lasts a few days at most. This year, an overnight ice storm brought in the freezing temperatures. Snow then regularly blew in for the next several days and nights. This meant more than a week of snow!
For many people, particularly in Texas, these winter storms have proved an extremely difficult and sometimes dangerous situation. All those suffering from the weather and its effects have been in the monks prayers.
Thankfully, Gethsemani was spared any major complications and the snow made for a beautiful transformation of the landscape. Several brothers could not resist the opportunity to snap photos around the abbey grounds. Below are some of those images.
