Bishop John Stowe of Lexington visited the abbey to give the monks a talk about the exercise of synodality under Pope Francis, and particularly the lead-up to the next Synod of Bishops which will be held in October of this year. Bishop Stowe was involved in the preparations for this synod.

Bishop John Stowe entered the Conventual Franciscans in St. Louis MO, where he made his final vows in 1992, and was ordained to the priesthood in 1995. On March 12, 2015, Pope Francis appointed him bishop of Lexington.
