Br. Paul Quenon will speak about the relationship between inner poverty, humility and peace in an online discussion on April 2. The one-and-one-half-hour Zoom presentation will be hosted by the Beatitudes Center for the Nonviolent Jesus. Br. Paul’s reflections will draw on his personal experiences as a monk and poet, as well as the writings of Emily Dickinson, Tagore and Thomas Merton.
“Inner poverty is the inevitable result of a life of meditation, and reduces one to a humility that is the only ground for authenticity,” Br. Paul said. “If you cannot be at peace with yourself and your limitations, you cannot be at peace with the world, and will spread the contagion of your own restlessness and hostility.”
Please note that the presentation is hosted by the Beatitudes Center, not the Abbey, and does include a $30 registration fee.
