When a postulant enters the novitiate, he officially becomes a brother, and is given the habit of the Order.
On the 1st of February, the community was very happy to receive Br. David Hynds into the novitiate. We follow the rite of the reception of novices as outlined in our Constitutions inspired by the Rule of St. Benedict, written over 1500 years ago. The abbot asks, “What do you seek?” a question that can remain in the heart of the monk through his entire monastic life. The postulant answers, “The mercy of God and of the Order.”
