February 14 – Ash Wednesday
Gethsemani joins the rest of the Catholic Church in observing Ash Wednesday, marking the beginning of the Lenten season. Lent is a time of reflection and prayer for the community. We give extra attention to lectio divina and we each have a Lenten book which we read through as the season progresses.
On Ash Wednesday, the community fasts on bread and water for the main meal. We use corn bread as our main bread for the day.
We wish everyone a fruitful Lent.
